Side Characters
Plot
The plot of CDarchive takes place over the course of two acts:
ACT I
ACT I has 16 episodes and is told through the perspective of Jacob. Jacob finds a CD containing the supposed "Roblox PC Install Edition" and decides to document his findings. Jacob begins to uncover the game's true purpose, being to provide a way to transfer souls into a videogame. Throughout the ACT, Father attempts to gain the trust of Jacob, and eventually begins attempting to manipulate Jacob into suicide in order for Jacob to "join him" in the game.
demo_gameplay.mov
Jacob discovers the demo of the 2010 "ROBLOX installer" disc and starts to explore the classic ROBLOX house map. The map is slightly off, having a thick fog that envelops and conceals the surroundings, along with faint, eerie music playing in the background. When Jacob begins to explore the back of the house, Father is faintly seen in the distance before the game promptly crashes. This map will be regularly explored for the rest of ACT I.
water_hole_demo.mov
This time, we are shown the menu of the Demo and Jacob's avatar. The window containing the menu is titled "robllllox di,.,,sc launcher." Near the top of the window, text reads "Logged in as [garbled, unintelligible text.]" The menu has three buttons: Games, Avatar and Demo. Jacob chooses the third option and appears on the same map from the previous video. He finds a red button on the house wall that, when pressed, plays a near-unintelligible whisper. It's hard to hear, but the voice says: «Meet me under the water». Jacob starts searching for something, goes back to the trampoline, and notices the water sounds nearby. There, he finds a hill behind the trampoline with the pond, where Jacob explores before sinking into the water.
Jacob is transported to a very dark area. Here, Jacob comes across that mysterious figure from the end of demo_gameplay.mov, who then speaks to him: «He-ee-ey buddy! It's me.. your old f-father. Don't you recognize me? It's been a while, b-but.. I'm so happy to see you aga-a-a--». Father reaches out to Jacob, floating toward him.
The game then crashes and the video ends.
father.mov
Jacob returns to the demo map. He attempts to jump over the hill again, but his efforts are wasted. He then sends messages though the in-game chat, to which Father responds. Father's dialogue is communicated through the video's subtitles instead of text one the screen due to an exporting bug. The conversation proceeds as follows:
Jacob: /hello?
Father: go to the house
Father: i want to talk to you
[Jacob proceeds into the house.]
Father: come to the couch
Father: i know a way you can see me again
Father: but
Father: you might not like it
Jacob: /ill do whatever it takes
Father: good
Father: go behind the house
[Jacob jumps through a window and proceeds to the back of the house.]
Father: keep walking
[Jacob continues to walk away from the house.]
Shortly after Jacob begins moving away from the house, the screen turns black as static is heard. Suddenly, the static turns to garbled screaming as the text "free me" is repeated several times. Images of Father flash in and out. One depicts Father in a pose similar to depictions of the demon Baphomet, with a star present on his chest. A cipher appears during this image, which is yet to be decoded. Another image depicts a monochrome, dithered image of Father in the same dark area from water_hole_demo.mov. Yet another depicts Father in a large glass dome in the shape of a Robloxian's head, slamming his hand into the glass. Notably, at the end of this sequence, this image remains for the longest.
Following this sequence, an error screen appears. This screen reads:
FATAL ERROR
saves/godprison.rblx unable to be found
COPYRIGHT ROBLOX 2010. EXPOSURE OF THIS MEDIA WILL RESULT IN PENALTY.
A string of Japanese kanji is present at the top-left of the screen. When translated, it reads:
Break the glass, set me free, the cage opens. That way you'll understand.
This screen remains for a long while. As it ends, Jacob is now on a grass plane with the same glass dome that Father was in present in front of him. Jacob looks around in a confused manner before returning to the back of the house. Just before Jacob can reach the house, a massive Father fills the horizon. The same text reading "free me" is visible before the game crashes and the video ends.
water_grave.mov
This time, the map looks distorted and flooded, and Jacob goes out and finds a couple of new strange places, one of which contains a button that opens a secret way in the house and a long hallway with a door. Jacob enters in and gets teleported to another game, which extends the previous location. The new area seems to resemble a living house with furniture, and Jacob says in description: "It feels like home". Jacob comes across the Father in the glass cage, however, he breaks his prison and starts to quickly move around the house in a chaotic way, as Jacob becomes confused, trying to hide away, Father exclaims: "WHERE YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING, JACOB? YOU CAN't escape me-e'", Jacob tries hiding in one of the nooks, however, Father finds him and with a mere "tag", Jacob gets his game crashed again.
fathers_gifts.mov
Jacob, as usual, visits the game and now sees Father acting friendly, with the map being fixed and even the background music being changed to a more pleasant melody. Father talks with Jacob through the screen and he answers in the chat. Father tells Jacob about how he has gifts for him. Father also added some new stuff to the map, such as a bed in the house. Jacob can't sleep in the game, but Father tells him "you will be able soon", which probably is a hint to the coming episodes.
Also, Father built swings and presents, which he encourages the boy to open, but Jacob ventures on against his request and goes to the overturned car, until the game crashes. Jacob gets kicked to the main menu, but this time, he joins the games button end appears in a yellow town. Very shortly after, he gets kicked again, with an error message: "not allowed, Jacob".
On the table and in the end of the video we can see a distorted image of two people, who possibly may be Jacob and his real father.
Family photo (?)
yellow_town.mov
The town
Our explorer returns to explore the new area. Yellow Town is a large yellow maze with blank Roblox avatars, some fused with the map. The town has some buildings and houses, and Jacob enters one of them and climbs to the top, noticing a prison cage. After reaching a gated bridge, a red empty avatar rushes forward towards Jacob from the nearest roof, but gets ragdolled. Jacob ignores it, but the game glitches and teleports him back to the Demoplace.
Father is embarrassed by his son's wanderings and suspects his son of unbelief. He asks Jacob to open the gift from previous video, which teleports Jacob to the place from the second video, where Jacob met him originally, but now broken glass parts can be seen on the ground.
strange_files.mov
The promo video, which is also the CD's logo and preview of this episode.
Jacob's friend suggested to check the game files, which contain the demo's promo video, demonstrating the new technology for platform — modified, smart NPC with better programming, but for a moment, the text changes to the "living souls" with father-like model. Also, it should have mentioned that the logo of PC install looks exactly like his glass head.
Second video is the NPC car driving, where one of then sits into the car and suddenly, video becomes gloomy. It shows the POV-footage of night driving and our NPC gets into a traffic incident, but later everything comes back to normal look and non-serious presentation of information. The speaker joking how silly that bad car driver NPC.
Third find is the unseen answers.txt with strange message: dark home, water, terminal. Last one is Japanese localized cover for CD with multiple NPC's with same clothes as Jacob, like in second previous file. He doesn't understand this language and asks us to translate it ourselves. Text on the cover reveals important information - Jacob's father died in traffic incident, what has been a bit hinted at in the past, like Father's game breaking when Jacob tried to short the distance with the car, placed upside down in the fathers_gifts.mov.
questions.mov
Blocked hallway
We are back again in the Demoplace. An interesting detail to note is the calmness of this video, because it's just Jacob exploring known locations. Father and other entities don't even show signs of presence. All changes on the map are blocked in the pool area from water_hole_demo.mov, a slowed soundtrack, missing gifts from father_gifts.mov and grey blocks on top of the trampoline. The description of the video reads: "i cant figure out what they mean...". When Jacob goes to the high ground and a new hallway, the video ends.
gates.mov
This video is a direct sequel to the questions.mov video, and it reveals what is in the end of hallway — a lever. After activating it, Jacob can't find what it did, it doesn't even unlock the blocked water area. Then, Jacob types in the keyboard and appears back in Yellow Town. He comes across a bridge, made from stone people. After reaching the cage with a lonely trapped statue and looking at it, the game glitches and Jacob appears next to another lever. He activates it, then goes through the normal bridge and goes into a dead end because of another closed bridge. Abruptly, the video ends. But, is the caged statue is even so important? Let's see.
stone_men.mov
Back to The Demoplace, blocked water way has been unlocked. Jacob enters in and discovers a way to the flooded house from water_grave.mov. Now, we can explore this place a bit more. Whole place looks like the labyrinth, but Jacob finds the lever. In the depth of house, the stone withered statues fill the way, but one of them has an axe-like weapon. Right before activating the second lever, this statue became active and it began to gradually move towards Jacob, with obviously intentions. It intensively chases him, until Jacob met the caged statue again, and as in previous time, game glitches and now fog turned red and the figure now gone. It supposed to be implied as a caged man pulled off the level behind him.

The player is stuck in the mase and after finding the third lever, Jacob tries to rest on the couch, but headless statue with the axe already found him, being a cause of another glitches. Now, after being caught up by the statue to the Father's first appearing location, the statue whispers an warning to him: "you are not supposed to do this, Jacob. you are not suppose to be here, Jacob". But the figure doesn't know, that Father stands right behind it.
When stone man has hit the protagonist, in the glitches here is visible text there: "the pale horse". What does it mean? The answer is in the description: "6:1–8", which is the revelation from the Bible, where the pale horse is associated with the coming death. The statue was the sigh of the forthcoming misfortune, or even someone's death.
tattooed_bodies.mov
Now Jacob appears on the floating platform over the Demoplace, which leads to the grass hill with stucked tattooed bodies, having messages to translate. After player jumped down, he sees how destroyed it looks, as if an earthquake had happened here. Jacob climbs on the roof beam of the house, gling to the strange "guess who" inscription. Suddenly, a yellow Robloxian bursts into the video, conveying a coded message with his movements, but it's impossible to decode for now.
Tattooed bodies messages:
- ああ、つかれた... = Ah, I’m tired…
- 6869206c6f6c - Hi Lol
- 54524150504544 - TRAPPED
- 544f4f4c415445 - TOOLATE
- 0a46494e442048494d0d0a45585 4494e47554953482048494 (showed half of the code) FIND HIM EXTINGUISH HI@ (probably HIM)
- 0(?) 3(?)2 98 101 101 32 73 32 97 109 32 110 111 116 - bee i am not
- Other codes are so unclean and hard to see, so they can't be decoded
Meanwhile, Jacob starts to reaching the breaking point. In the discribtion he says:
"What the hell am i doing?
(Decoded): Is what I'm doing worth it? Do I want to know what I'm chasing after?"
We are getting close to the end of ACT I, and we still need to decode Yellow robloxian's cipher. The answer how to do it is in the next video.
messages.mov
Unlike other videos, this one is recorded on the Jacob's table out if the game. He turns on the tape recorder, where the one of the employees shares their progress with project. His words confirms the usage if real souls in the project. The cassete guy says that company made a new way for souls to communicate with people, by rotating and changing it's position, that works like morse code: standing is dot, and stabding upwards is dash. With this method we can now understand what happened on the end of tattooed_bodies.mov. The soul says: "We are not. It was him". Also, when Jacob just turns on the player, his arms seems to be damaged or just sunburned. Unknown, is it made for special or actor had a good sunny day.

Back to the message man, he also mentions the mysterious entity, what appeared in the game out of nowhere, according to the description it fits the father exactly, and was pleading for release him. The tape man tells "that there has to be someone behind it", expressing doubts about Father. After that, probably triggered Jacob, whose faith in his father began to give way to doubts, just turns off the recorder. On the montage, he tells, that the tape was just found next to his door, and Jacob is really afraid about his own safety.
After that, he decides to return in the game, visiting the father, who for sure heard Jacob's tape, tries to talk with him, repeating that he needs to be trusted, gaining Jacob's gullibility back. The monologue accompanied by shots of a shopping mall familiar to Jacob, plus, Father says that there is some forbidden things in CD that Jacob still gonna see, In the description, he says that he is ready to joing his Father.
garden_terminal.mov
The Demoplace is full of flowers. Jacob tries to call Father, but he is quiet today. Later, he founds the elevator in the blocked area next to the pool, that leads to the dark Fathers room from the second video, where he founds strange PC terminal, but before player does something, the message appears "I can see you, Jacob". Just like in the good old days, game crashes, like boy's state. Jacob's coded thoughts in the description are:
all i want is to just see my dad again. i dont care what i have to do. i just want to talk to him again. without this stupid creepy shit in the way. just one on one. and actually SEE HIM.EE HIM.
fathers_scolding.mov

When Jacob joins the game, Father is still wondering why he keeps going here to the overturned car place. Boy says, that he is ready to joing him, even if Father tolds him the opposite, knowing how Jacob connected with him. Meanwhile, the Demoplace is full of statue men from the Yellow town, Jacob asks how to join his dad, who promises to show it. On the wall there is another coded message: "he creates from our destruction".Player was send to the yellow mail from messages.mov at a night, showing a lot of shops with japanese banners. Some of them might be translated:
- その価値はありますか = Is it worth it?
- 休みましょう= Let's take a break.
- 私を信じて= Please trust me
In the end game goes werid: night switches at day, Jacob can't move and squeaky sound was able to hear. Now, video end. That wasn't so important episode, but like as the last ones as a tattooed_bodies or garden_terminal videos Jacob just quietly explorers the CD in depressed mood, that is going to show it's breaking point. This video was just a prelude to the finale of the ACT I .
storefronts.mov
Jacob just stroling around in the Yellow town, jumping through the bridge barriers, the roofs and just boringly wandering, before he sees the store frontes, leading to the wall from previous videos. There are a lot of boddies, stucked in the walls or even if not making up.

In the first shop, there are nothing but the purple hat, but in the second one, there is only living statue is at the checkout place, that is hardly says the phrase, which is hard to hear, but presuambly it means: «MEMORIES ARE IN THE WALLS, AND THEY ARE MADE OF THOSE/US». The creator confirmed in SenPriesta video's comments, that the statues in the walls were intended to be the souls of the people, previously stucked in the game and "father" used them to build the test world.

Jacob turns back and sees stone man, the pale horse. Video cuts and morse code appears, messaging «SHOTGUN». He gets teleported to the last location, that looks like appartament. It contains the bed, bookshelf and the table with pc and the CD disk. That is the real Jacob's home. He gets the morse message and looking for the item. In the last room, TV plays reversed audio: «Why do you have to join him» before Jacob takes the shotgun. After that, the video immediately scrolls through everything Jacob have seen: Father, family photo, the mall, The Father with cult symbol, that is the same image from the father.mov, who is actually stand in the Baphomet's pose. In the vague interpretation, Jacob commits suicide, believing the demon, who played on his grief. In the describtion, we can see Jacob's last words: «yes, father».

Jacob's death wasn't shown so clearly, and there was no smooth transition to such a sudden plot twist, but next unlisted episode exactly does it, and it's title is:
answers.mov
This video was a bad draft of the finale of CDarchives, that is currently non-canon and hidden on the YouTube. The entry starts in the Demoplace, that became darker and every structure is now yellow. Jacob wandering the locations as the store and garden from garden_terminal.mov, where the tattooed bodies confronting him with the warning texts on them, those are lately appears right on the screen: «Are you sure?», «Is this right way to go?» and «think this through». Last statue tells him to stop. Then, Jacob sees the same terminal, but rusty. One more time the soul shows the morse code: «_......_._.». There are no any gaps, so it's hard to translate, but it could mean a "Desc" or "The end" if you will add one extra dot.
Jacob passes through the yellow men crowd, the statue men's palace and opend the lever. Suddenly, we are one more time appearing in the dark Father's place from his first revial, where the person is yelling on Jacob and begs him to "don't do it". That was the yellow caged person, that was erased for attempt to help Jacob. Now, the giant Father appears in the dark, whispering with rude voice that they can be together forever without any problems, he needs Jacob to join him, he (the son) needs just pull the trigger for it, meanwhile the souls dissuades Jacob from it, but useless. We can hear the loud and stunning gunshot, when Jacob's blood spray on the screen.
遊んでくれてありがとうジェイコブ = Thank you for playing, Jacob.
cold_powder.mov
Just a footage of the snowy hill. In the right lower corner we can see text from the future protagonist of ACT II. Coded text is: «There was a loud bang, i ran over as fast i could, his head was on the keyboard, blood pooled off the desk, the game was running, a giant watched over him.».

ACT II
Act II has 10 episodes, but due it was cancelled, there is a lot of not released content. First video explains the main plot of ACT II and has the same tittle (ACT II). It follows the person, who found Jacob's dead body — his friend, who names himself as D3TECTIVE for his safety, who is determinated to find the reason of Jacob's death for their sake. He believes, that not everything has to end sadly. His investigation starts with the letter, that was in the kitchen, where Jacob's mother warns her son, that she can't provide they both and she had run away, but he needs more clues. He decides to take care of CD and find answers in the disс.

SNOW
D3TECTIVE opens the ROBLOX disc launcher, and game asking him to write his name. After that, launcher's main menu opens, same menu what we seen in the water_hole_demo.mov, but with the updated desigh. Also, Jacob's equipped avatar looks distored with missing face on it, symbolising his fate. The investigator changes his skin preset and updates his skin. After tha, he opens the demo.
D3tective's menu
This time, there is complectly different zone here. Detective appears in the snowy forest with sigh that leading to the someone's house. It's clearly seen that CD version looks and works way better than in Jacob's pc for a plot relevance , symbolising that he is not stuck in the past unlike Jacob. Our investigator reaches the crumbled house remains, game glitches and "Father" pops up the message: « s, orry ! it, s no t m uch but it,s h o me ». Player leaving the house, but finally meets him, the "father", who breaks the game and introduces himself as "his best friend".
The detective says in the describtion, that he saw this figure before in Jacob's sended videos, so he will try to be more careful. We can see, that the Father now pretends as Jacob and tries to use the same manipulations to D3tective, how he did with Jacob. Even that end-glitch looks exactly in the first video of htis ARG.
